Hadi Özcan, a well-known figure in Kocaeli’s underworld and reputed leader of a criminal organization, has died of a heart attack while serving his sentence at Diyarbakır Prison. His funeral is scheduled to take place on Friday in his hometown of Sapanca.

Final Moments in Prison

Hadi Özcan, who was registered as a resident of the Kırkpınar neighborhood in Sapanca, had been sentenced to 75 years in prison for allegedly orchestrating the murder of three people 20 years ago. Captured in Georgia in 2020 and extradited to Turkey, Özcan had been held in various prisons since then. Most recently, he was incarcerated in Diyarbakır Prison, where he reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack during the early hours of the morning. Despite medical intervention, he could not be revived.

Funeral to Be Held in Sapanca

Özcan’s family has traveled to Diyarbakır to retrieve his body. The burial is expected to take place in Sapanca, with the funeral prayer scheduled for Friday in the Kırkpınar neighborhood.
