The DSP Central Headquarters has decided to nominate candidates for mayor in all districts of Kocaeli except for Gölcük. Serap Bilmez has been selected as the party's candidate for Metropolitan Municipality Mayor. While the candidates for other district municipalities have been announced, two names have caught significant attention because they are a married couple, nominated by the party for Derince and Darıca.

Among the candidates, two names have drawn attention. Serkan Çakal, the party's nominee for Derince Municipality Mayor, and Demet Özdemir Çakal, the nominee for Darıca Municipality Mayor, are husband and wife. Halim Dedeoğlu, the DSP Provincial Chairman, stated in a declaration that the decision was made due to the strong desire of both candidates to run for mayor.
